BCAG_Save_the_Date_2016The recipients of the 2016 Bonham Centre Awards have been unveiled.  The Bonham Centre Awards are presented annually by the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto to individuals who have made meaningful and significant contributions to public awareness and education around issues of human rights as they pertain to sexual diversity.

The 2016 honourees hail from the business world, and each has made important contributions on issues of diversity and acceptance of LGBTQ individuals in the workplace.  They are:

  • Heather Conway – Executive Vice President, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation English Language Services
  • Colonel Jennifer Pritzker – Founder and CEO of the Tawani Foundation, and transgender activist
  • Selisse Berry – Founder and CEO of Out and Equal, the U.S.-based LGBTQ equality non-profit organization

The awards will be presented at a gala reception at Hart House, University of Toronto on Wednesday April 13th at 6:oo pm.  Preceding the reception, the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies will be conducting a day-long symposium on the present and future challenges facing the LGBTQ community in the workplace environment, attended by 35 invited academics, business people, and others from around the world.  Sponsors of the symposium and the Gala are RBC Financial Group and IBM Canada.
